On Saturday, November 15, more than 70 Bosnians and Herzegovinians from across the United States came together in Washington, DC!
Organized by Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation , in partnership with BHeart Foundation, Institute for Development Impact – I4DI, and the Maryland – Bosnia and Herzegovina Exchange Council (MBHEC), the gathering combined thoughtful reflection with forward-looking dialogue on the role of diaspora in Bosnia & Herzegovina’s future.
Together, we reflected on a decade of BH Futures Foundation’s work and wider diaspora contributions, and participated in an engaging workshop, “From Brain Drain to Brain Gain,” exploring new models of return, diaspora engagement, and how Bosnia & Herzegovina can better harness its global talent.
We extend our sincere appreciation to BH Futures Foundation for their leadership and sustained work in supporting youth, innovation, and global mobility, especially to Edhem (Eddie) Čustović, Ph.D. and Merisa Nisic, PhD, and to the rest of event organizers Azra Kacapor Nurkic, Emir Nurkic Kacapor, Adnan Hadrovic, Andrea Pozderac, and Sabina Djutovic-Alivodic.
We are also deeply grateful to all participants for taking the time to attend, share their experiences, and contribute thoughtful insights to the discussion. We look forward to staying connected and exploring concrete opportunities for collaboration in the months ahead.
