Mak Nurkić serves as Program Officer at the Maryland–Bosnia and Herzegovina Exchange Council (MBHEC), where he designs and implements state, civic, and entrepreneurial exchanges that deepen ties between Maryland and Bosnia and Herzegovina. He facilitates high-level meetings between Maryland officials and BiH government representatives, develops research briefs and presentations to support MBHEC’s diplomatic and cultural initiatives, and advances the Council’s mission of fostering enduring partnerships.
Beyond MBHEC, Mak has led reconciliation and governance studies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, contributed to strategy work with the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator, and founded The DUXO Project, a mine-detection initiative recognized with a U.S. patent. His work reflects a commitment to building connections across communities through diplomacy, research, and innovation.
