From Historic First to Lasting Tradition: March 1st Bosnian-American Day

The State of Maryland Proclamation, issued by Governor Wes Moore, builds upon last year’s historic first recognition and further establishes March 1st as a lasting tradition in honoring Bosnia and Herzegovina’s declaration of independence on March 1, 1992. The proclamation reaffirms the enduring partnership between Maryland and Bosnia and Herzegovina and celebrates the invaluable contributions of the Bosnian-American community to the civic, cultural, and economic life of the State.

Recognizing the invaluable contributions of Bosnian Americans and the deep ties between our communities, Governor Moore has officially designated March 1st as Bosnian-American Day in Maryland.

PROCLAMATION Bosnian American DayOn behalf of the Maryland Bosnia and Herzegovina Exchange Council and the Bosnian-American community in Maryland, we extend our deepest gratitude to Governor Wes Moore and his team for their unwavering support and dedication to fostering unity, cultural exchange, and international cooperation.

This proclamation stands as a powerful testament to our shared commitment to democracy, human rights, and the pursuit of peace and prosperity. We invite all Maryland residents to join us in celebrating Bosnian-American Day and honoring the rich heritage, resilience, and contributions of Bosnian Americans to our great State of Maryland and United States of America as whole.
