MBHEC Co-Founders Attend Bosnia and Herzegovina Statehood Day Reception at the United Nations

New York, NY – Co-founders of the Maryland Bosnia and Herzegovina Exchange Council (MBHEC) attended the official reception marking the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, held last night at the Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Nations.

The reception featured an address by Dr. Denis Bećirović, Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who highlighted the historical significance of Statehood Day and reaffirmed Bosnia and Herzegovina’s commitment to democratic values, sovereignty, and international cooperation. The event also welcomed the presence of the Mothers of Srebrenica, whose attendance added profound emotional significance to the evening, and marked the official opening of the Srebrenica Flower monument at the United Nations.

The event brought together diplomats, UN officials, community leaders, and representatives of the Bosnian diaspora to honor one of the most important dates in the country’s modern history.

MBHEC leadership expressed appreciation to the Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN for organizing a dignified and meaningful celebration, and reaffirmed the Council’s dedication to supporting initiatives that promote Bosnia and Herzegovina’s cultural, academic, and diplomatic presence in the United States.
