Adnan Hadrović, Co-Founder and Board Member of the Maryland Bosnia and Herzegovina Exchange Council (MBHEC), proudly attended the two-day conference “Bosnia and Herzegovina: Honoring the Past, Celebrating the Present, Building the Future,” organized by the New England Friends of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Boston.
The conference brought together distinguished diplomats, elected officials, academics, community leaders, and members of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian diaspora to commemorate important milestones in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s history, discuss current challenges and opportunities, and strengthen ties within the Bosnian-American community.
The program commenced at the Massachusetts State House with a commemoration of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s admission to the United Nations in May 1992. Distinguished speakers included Lydia Edwards, Jessica Giannino, and Zlatko Lagumdžija. The event also featured a presentation on Bosnian history by Edina Skaljić and a moving performance of “Jedna si jedina” by Nura Borogovac.
The second day of the conference was hosted at the Pardee School of Global Studies and featured an engaging panel discussion on education, business, diplomacy, and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European future. Panelists included Admir Masic, Ned Lomigora, Zlatko Lagumdžija, Vesko Garčević, Nermina Mujagić, and Ismar Volić, with moderation by Amanda Hukanović.
The conference concluded with a dinner gathering that celebrated community engagement and cooperation. Remarks were delivered by the Mayor of Revere, Paul Mark, Professor Nermina Mujagić, and Adnan Hadrović on behalf of MBHEC. The evening concluded with a cultural performance by KUD Ljiljani.
MBHEC extends its sincere appreciation to NEFBiH for organizing this outstanding event and for its continued commitment to preserving the history, promoting the achievements, and strengthening the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its diaspora. Events such as these play an important role in fostering dialogue, building partnerships, and connecting generations committed to the prosperity and international advancement of US and Bosnia and Herzegovina relationships.
